In-situ Machining Gives New Life To Cement Unloader

The slew ring on this 20-year-old cement unloader needed replacement.

The Port Management contacted the original OEM in Sweden to obtain the necessary spare parts.

The Port engineering staff removed the cabin turret section from the main frame.

Metalock to undertake a series of pre-machining laser inspections before setting up its purpose designed rotary facing machine.

The lower turret annular ring 3.28m diameter and 60mm wide was machined flat to within ±0.02mm and subsequently checked by laser.

This was then repeated on the upper turret slew ring location surface.

Re-bored 3 x sets of link bore locations used to locate the hydraulic lifting rams to accept oversize pins manufactured and supplied by the OEM.
