Marine Diesel Engine Main Bearing Pocket transplant

This engine bedplate has suffered a serious crack in way of the number 4 main bearing pocket location. Metalock Engineering cut out the cracked area precisely using Metalock drilling jigs.

Metalock Engineering then manufactured a new insert that fitted into exactly into the location of the damaged pocket. It was secured using the Metalock cold repair stitching process. The split joint was machined flat and the bearing cap fitted and secured before the main bearing pocket was rebored in-line with the other main bearing pockets. This repair was Class Approved.
